We are now accepting applications for a Senior Software Developer based out of our Calgary, AB office.

 

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

 

FBC’s Senior Software Developer is responsible for contributing across the entire software development cycle and ensuring that the team achieves all commitments on the development agenda. This agenda includes delivering on the various requirements of FBC’s tax processing, data collection and reporting software. The Sr Developer is a seasoned .NET programmer with well-rounded expertise working in the Microsoft Windows eco-system. To be successful, the Sr Developer is able to see and understand the “big picture” and is committed to providing complete, productive and maintainable software solutions. The Sr Developer understands the importance of quality, the factors that influence it, and delivers that quality individually and as part of a team.

 

Our Sr Developer demonstrates professionalism and commitment through their: enthusiasm for using industry best practices; dedication to maintaining a level of knowledge that is current and appropriate to the needs of the business; adaptability and penchant for problem solving; habit of providing detailed follow through and follow up; and top-notch interactions with team members and co-workers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

Functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Design, build, test, and maintain custom software applications.
  • Plan and lead projects independently and in a team environment, fostering a collaborative and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Understand and follow the team SDLC and team policies & procedures.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in the operations and success of the business we support.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent training and experience) in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • A minimum of 8 years of software development experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with either VB.Net or C#, and .Net Framework.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience witheither Oracle or other database system.
  • Experience with Git or other source control system.
  • Experience with Windows forms and WPF/XAML would be an asset.
  • Experience with Xamarin smartphone app development (Android and/or iOS) would be an asset.
  • Experience with Reporting Tools (BIRT) or Rules Engines (Blaze) would be an asset.
  • Finance, accounting, and/or Canadian tax kowledge would be an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • A keen ability to set goals, maintain standards and motivate others.
  • Knowledge of professional software development procedures and practices.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills to interact with technical and business colleagues across all levels within the organization.
  • Skilled in developing estimates for design, development and testing of application functionality.
  • Superior problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
